Esteban Vera Sr. of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home. He was 59 years old. Esteban was born August 3, 1957 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, son of the late Fernando Vera Jr. and the late Anastacia Vera (nee - Segarra). He is the beloved husband of 40 years to Maria L. (nee Berrios) Vera; father of Esteban Vera Jr. and Nancy Mendez and her husband Daniel. He is also survived by his grandchildren Danielle Angelique Vera and Angel Esteban Vera, and their mother Catrina D. Vera, and India Gabrielle Vera and Brianna Lynn Mendez. The 12th of 16 children he is the brother of Miguel (Papo), Virginia, Maria, Carmen, Rafa, Eulalia (Yayi), Marcial (Chalo), Jaime, Luis, Fernando (Nando), Ana, Cesar, Fermina, Gerardo, and Jorge. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Esteban was born, raised, and educated in Puerto Rico. He married Maria on June 29, 1990 at St. Henry’s Parish in Philadelphia. They raised their family in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia. A hard worker, Esteban was a technician for 38 years with Premier Dental until retiring due to health concerns in 2016. When he had free time he would be found painting, riding his motorcycle, listening to Spanish music, or working with his hands. He loved to spend time with the love of his life, Maria, and with his grandkids. He was a devout family man who would do anything for his large extended family.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 9:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Innocents Church, 1337 Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124. His graveside service followed at New Cathedral Cemetery, Second and Butler Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

Religious services were conducted by Father Vincent Tung The Pham and his brother Deacon Jorge Vera.
