Matthew J. Marszalek of Southampton, Pennsylvania died Friday, July 28, 2017 at Southampton Estates.  He was 87 years old. Matthew was born May 18, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Marszalek. He is the beloved husband of 65 years of Marguerite Marszalek (nee - Gille); father of Gary M. Marszalek and his wife Teri, and Gayle Fischer and her husband Jeff; grandfather of Daniel Marszalek, Christiana Cyriaque and her husband Marvin, Elliot Marszalek, Stephanie Hollop and her husband Tony, and Jeffrey Fischer; great grandfather of Tiernan Marszalek.

Matthew was raised and educated in Philadelphia. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Portland Maine. While on a weekend leave, he married Marguerite Gille on April 26, 1952 and after completing several years of service to his country, was honorably discharged from the service. During his working years, Matthew was a government employee at the Frankford Arsenal until its closing at which point he moved on to the Philadelphia Naval Yards until retirement. Matt always had a twinkle in his eye and a song to sing, living life to the fullest and will be remembered as the life of the party. He loved to make others laugh with his unique sense of humor. He enjoyed playing golf and pinochle in his spare time. Providing for his family was of the utmost importance to him and his generosity of spirit unparalleled. Family and friends will fondly remember him as a loving and generous father, grandfather, great grandfather and loyal friend.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and memorial service at 8:00 P.M. at New Apostolic Church - Bucks County, 404 Pine Run Road, Doylestown, PA 18901.

Religious services were conducted by the New Apostolic Church - Bucks County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to NAC-USA Youth Development Fund, LLC, 804 Meadowood Lane, Warminster, PA 18974.
