Grace Amy Crittenden of Abington, Pennsylvania died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Hospital. She was 83 years old. Grace was born May 11, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Alvah W. Brackin and the late Grace L. Brackin (nee - Barford). She is the wife of Andrew J. Crittenden, Sr.; mother of Amy Freeland and her husband Peter, Andrew J. Crittenden, Jr., David Crittenden, Phillip Crittenden, and Richard Crittenden; grandmother of Amy, Sarah, and Hannah Freeland; sister of Norma Blizard and her husband Charles, James Brackin and his wife Lisa, and the late Alvah Brackin, Jr. and his wife Ruth; she is also survived by a loving extended family.
Grace was raised and educated in Philadelphia. She honorably served her country in the United States Navy achieving the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade (Lt.JG.). During her career, Grace was an RN for more than 50 years working in hospitals, doctor’s offices, and in private settings. In her spare time, Grace actively continued her bible studies well into her 70s.
Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Military honors rendered by the United States Navy and graveside service followed at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
Religious services were conducted by Pastor Trevor Steenbakkers from Calvary Chapel, 13500 Philmont Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19116.
