Verna E. Kelly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Paul’s Run. She was 99 years old. Verna was born October 17, 1918 in Northampton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alice Eisenhard. She is the beloved wife of the late Francis M. Kelly; mother of Melissa Chin and her husband Robert; grandmother of Colleen San Gabriel and her husband Christopher, Jennifer Wolf and her husband Brian, and Christopher Chin and his wife Allison; great grandmother of Alex, Noah, and Henry San Gabriel, Ethan and Audrey Wolf, and Brandon and Zachary Chin. She is also survived by a loving extended family.
Verna was raised and educated in Northampton, Pennsylvania. She worked for Bell Telephone in California during World War II, and left the workforce after marrying Francis Kelly to begin to raise their family together.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Greenwood - St. John’s UCC Cemetery, 22A Atlas Road, Northampton, PA 18067 (across the street from St. John’s United Church of Christ).
Religious services were conducted by Pastor Deborah Wolfe from St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 7965 Fillmore Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Paul’s Run, 9896 Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19115.
