Ruth M. Abbott of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Monday, March 12, 2018 at Holy Redeemer Hospital Hospice. She was 90 years old. Ruth was born May 2, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John F. Rudolph and the late Ida P. Rudolph (nee - Herrmann). She is the beloved wife of 57 years of Kenneth Abbott; mother of Douglas Abbott; sister of the late John T. Rudolph and his wife Dot, Ida Rudolph and the late Norma M. Ciccia and her husband the late Joseph; aunt of Rod Rudolph and Dawn Nadal. She is also survived by her brother in law George Abbott, sister in law June Mandelaro and their families.

Ruth was raised and educated in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. She attended Simon Gratz High School. After her schooling she went to work for Sears Roebuck. While working, she met Ken. The two fell in love and were married in 1960 at Kensington Assembly of God. They lived in several sections of the city including Fox Chase, Somerton, and Rhawnhurst as well as a seven year period in North Miami Beach, Florida before settling in the Burholme section of Philadelphia. Ruth enjoyed watching the news, Judge Judy, Lawrence Welk and her beloved Philadelphia Phillies. She loved to listen to Hymns, Big Band and Country Western Music and was an avid cook. She will be missed for her Macaroni and Cheese, Potato Salad and Tuna Salad.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service will follow at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

Religious services will be conducted by Rev. Carl W. Vandine.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106
