Doris S. Hardcastle of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died Friday, August 11, 2023 at Jefferson Abington Hospital. She was 98 years old. Doris was born August 4, 1925 in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. She is the beloved wife of the late Charles Samuel “Sam” Hardcastle. Daughter of the late Charles and Grace Houpt Sickel Beauchamp. Step-daughter of Bertram Beauchamp. She is also survived by many Houpt and Beauchamp first and second cousins, her dear friend Nancee Clelland and her son and daughter, and many close friends.
Doris graduated from Upper Moreland High School class of 1943. She was formerly employed by Standard Press Steel, Jenkintown Bank and Trust, and the Johnsville N.A.D. Center. Doris was a longtime, active member of the Willow Grove United Methodist Church. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star Schuylkill Chapter Number 338 O.E.S., Upper Moreland Historical Association, and the Upper Moreland Library. Doris received the honor of “Citizen of the Year” in 2022. She was a volunteer of the American Cancer Society and was active in the New Brunswick (N.J.) Y.W.C.A. Doris will be remembered for her beautiful letters, which she would write to family and friends thanking them for their considerations and thoughtfulness.
Relatives and friends were invited to her graveside service on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Hatboro Cemetery, 36 Fulmor Avenue, Hatboro, PA 19040.
A Memorial & Celebration of Life Service was held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 9:00 am, during our traditional Sunday School hour at the Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 N. York Road. The Service was held in the Chapel and all were welcome to participate.
