David H. Simpson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Philadelphia Protestant Home. He was 88 years old. David was born March 26, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Harry Simpson and the late Florence Simpson (nee - Chupeck). Beloved husband of the late Nancy Simpson (nee - Stearns). Father of Linda Simpson and the late Mark Simpson. Grandfather of Grant Geiser and Emily Christiansen. Brother of William and Harry Simpson.
David was born and raised in Philadelphia. Following his graduation from Central High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after five years of service. Upon returning home, he enrolled at Temple University and then University of Pennsylvania where he received a Masters degree in Social Work. David and Nancy Stearns met when they were studying at Temple and the two were later married. During his working career, David was the Director of Social Services at Moss Rehabilitation Hospital for more than 30 years.
