Manfred Speer of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Albert Einstein Medical Center. He was 72 years old. Manfred was born November 30, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Gottlob J. Speer and the late Martha Speer (nee - Fritz).

He is the beloved companion of Christa Breyer and her children Henry and his wife Kay, Herbert and his wife Debbie, and Monica and her husband Chris. Father of Dr. Emily Weiss and her husband Christopher Jones. Grandfather of Max Harrison Jones. Brother of Albert Speer.

Manfred was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He graduated from Olney High School, Penn State University, and took 2 years of law school at LaSalle University. He was a member of Herman-Humboldt Lodge No. 125 F.&A.M., Cannstatter Volksfest Verein, and Vereinigung Erzgebirge. He was a longtime member at Tabor Lutheran Church. Manfred enjoyed singing and was a member of the Franklinville-Schwarzwald Maennerchor and United Singers of Philadelphia. Recently Manfred has been teaching the German language at Villanova University and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Somerton.

Relatives and friends were invited to a memorial service for Manfred on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 14100 Worthington Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Friends were invited to pay their respects to the family at the church after 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Franklinville-Schwarzwald Maennerchor, 130 Davisville Road, Warminster, PA 18974 or United Singers of Philadelphia, 9130 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19114.
