Margaret Emily Porter (nee Chambers), 98, a resident of Glenside, PA from 1954-2008, died May 10, 2020. She lived at Dock Meadows, Hatfield, PA for nine years and then Dock Woods Community, Lansdale, PA.

Peggy was born in Philadelphia and was pre-deceased by her parents, John Gallagher Chambers and Emily Irvine Chambers Cassidy and siblings John A. Chambers, Allan I. Chambers, William T. Chambers, Nancy Chambers Hoffman, and James G. Chambers. She was the devoted wife of the late Howard A. Porter for 61 years, mother of Linda Foh (Tom) and David Porter (Barbara, Louise); grandmother of James Porter (Sara) and Amanda Byrd (Andrew), and great-grandmother of Leela and Rykard Byrd and Grace Porter. She also leaves 14 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

Peggy attended Landreth Elementary, Audenreid Junior High, and William Penn High Schools in Philadelphia. She worked for American Hawaiian Shipping during the Lend-Lease program in WWII, The Presbyterian Guardian, The Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and Westminster Theological Seminary, all in Greater Philadelphia. She was a very active member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Glenside, for over 70 years as choir member and soloist, Sunday School teacher and all-duties volunteer.

Interment will be held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Limekiln Pike (Rt. 152) and Horsham Rd. (Rt. 362), Horsham, PA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church – Parents Assistance Fund, 734 Willow Grove Ave., Glenside, PA 19038.
