The following obituary was written by Juta’s family

Juta Ramins passed away at the age of 101 on Thursday, September 14, 2023. She was born in Riga, Latvia on Wednesday, July 12, 1922 to her parents Janis and Anna Jegernieks.

She is survived by her three daughters Velga Buehler and her husband Richard, Irena Lewis, and Rev. Karina Ramins and her husband Ronald Ridgway. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, her sister Kristine Abelite, and many nieces and nephews in Latvia.

Juta is predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years Karlis Ramins and her grandsons Michael Lewis and Karl Andrew Buehler.

Juta and Karlis met in the late 1930’s and were married in 1940 in Riga, Latvia. They were happily married until his passing in 1995. Juta emigrated to the United States with her husband and daughters Velga and Irena. They first lived in Maryland where Juta worked on a farm. She remembered husking an acre of corn on her own. When the families pastor emigrated to Philadelpha and started a church, the family moved to Philadelphia. Juta loved to crochet, knit and sew. She was a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Warminster.

Juta was always ready to help any of those who needed it. Often the help involved feeding them. You would never leave hungry. Juta was feisty and independent all the way up until her death.

She will be missed not just by her family, but also by the people whose lives she touched in her years at Christ’s Home.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 620 East Welsh Road, Horsham, PA 19044. Her graveside service followed at George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
