Jane Carolyn Young of Rydal, Pennsylvania passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at Rydal Park. She was 85 years old. Jane was born July 25, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John Miller Greaser and the late Elizabeth F. Greaser (nee - Trost). She was the beloved wife of the late George Lawrence Young; mother of Nancy R. Beckley and her husband Keith, James C. Young and his husband William Leffler, and the late William G. Young; grandmother of Kathryn R. Beckley; sister of the late John W. Greaser; aunt of Leslie Lord and her husband Ray, and Kurt Greaser and his wife Taryn; and great aunt to three.

Jane grew up in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. She graduated from Germantown High School, and continued her schooling at Germantown Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating in 1959, Jane worked as a Registered Nurse at Germantown Hospital for 40 years, until she retired in 1999. After retiring, she continued her service as a volunteer, working in the pharmacy department.

Jane loved going to flea markets, yard sales and spending time at the shore. She was an avid walker, liked music, and enjoyed being around animals (particularly her dog Bentley, as well as many other pets over the years). At Rydal Park, she regularly attended worship, and participated in the walking club and the nurses’ social group.

From a young age, Jane was drawn to helping others. As a child, she would help her family (particularly her grandfather), as well as her friends and neighbors. Her love of caring for others lead to her career in nursing. Her passion for helping others continued throughout her life, as she cared for elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone else in need. Jane will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the help she offered so many throughout her lifetime. Above all else, Jane loved and cherished her family, and her career at Germantown Hospital.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001
