Gordon Macaulay Steer of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania died Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill. He was 97 years old. Gordon was born October 28, 1922 in Halifax, , son of the late Elwin John Steer and the late Eva Arlington Steer (nee - Maskell). He is the beloved husband of Barbara J. (nee-Simpson) Steer, father of Deborah Herrmann, Elaine MacArthur and husband Gary, stepfather of Susan Siddons and husband David, Kurt Hunsberger and wife Kathy, John Hunsberger and wife Laura, Carole Lowe and husband Tim, Jim Hunsberger and wife Donna; Grandfather of 18; great grandfather of 8 and brother of Dorothy Wenzel (Louis).  He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Gordon enjoyed growing up in Waterbury, Conn. with his siblings and remembered fondly spending childhood days at Hamilton Park.  Upon graduating H.S., he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served during World War ll. He was assigned to an escort aircraft carrier the U.S.S. Block Island, which suffered the fate of being sunk off the Canary Islands on May 29, 1944. He served as an Electrician's Mate. After the service, Gordon worked many years as a tool and die maker. He enjoyed many years singing in a Barbershop Chorus (along with Barbara) and also was a member of their church bowling league for many years.  He'll always be remembered as a loving husband, dad, Pop-Pop and Poppie to a family that loved him dearly. 

His life was celebrated at a viewing on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. and funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His graveside service and military honors rendered by the United States Navy took place at 2:00 P.M. at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Delmarva Adult & Teen Challenge, PO Box 1271, Seaford, DE 19973.
