Gail M. Lee (”Bubba” to her grandchildren) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her home. She was 83 years old. Gail was born July 9, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late James Joseph Melley and the late Phyllis Kathryn Melley (nee - Fischer). She is the beloved wife of the late Francis X. Lee; mother of Donna McGowan and her husband Joseph Logan and Laura Conroy and her husband John; grandmother of Liam McGowan, Tyler Conroy and his wife Ariel and Devon Conroy; soon to be great grandmother of Abigail Jean Conroy; sister of Claire Gabriella, the late James Melley, the late Donald Melley, and the late Joyce Melley
Gail was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia where she attended St. Francis of Assisi school and graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in 1955. Gail met Francis Lee while he was working at the Frank J. Gillespie Funeral Home across the street from St. Francis of Assisi Church. The couple were married after Gail’s graduation. Over the years, the Lee’s lived in Germantown, Olney, Fox Chase, and Oreland. Gail loved traveling and enjoyed cruises and trips to San Diego and Aruba. When she had free time, Gail liked to read. Gail’s grandchildren were the love of her life.
Services were held privately due to the coronavirus pandemic.
