Henry Corney of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Jeanes Hospital. He was 91 years old. Henry was born October 4, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Corney and the late Anastasia Corney (nee Ryscalchek). He is the beloved husband of the late Anna Corney; father of John Corney and his wife Sharon, Kathleen Madden and her husband Brian, and Karen Corney-Maneely and her husband Carl; grandfather of Jessica, Amelia, Jack, Juliet, and Charlotte; great grandfather of three; brother of the late Joseph, the late Daniel, and the late John Corney; he is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.

Henry was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. After graduating from Northeast High School, he answered the call to serve his country and was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving four years during the Korean War. Upon his return home, he and a friend moved to Brooklyn, New York where he lived for the next ten years. During his time in New York, he met Anna Hernandez, the two were married, and began their family. Once again returning to Philadelphia, the Corney family took up their longtime residence where Henry would live for the next 60 years. In his career, Henry worked as an insurance broker making his way through the ranks of a large local Philadelphia insurance company to the position of Vice President. Henry retired at 58 after more than 30 years of service. In his free time, Henry was a voracious reader, avid sports fan, and world traveler. Henry will be sorely missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
