Bob was born, raised, and educated in Albany NY. He was a 1945 graduate of the Milne School in Albany, NY, then continued his education receiving his Bachelors degree from Syracuse University, a Masters Divinity Degree from Westminster Seminary and a Doctorate degree from Temple University. He married Dora on September 4, 1950. They moved around until having their home built in Willow Grove, PA in 1962. They raised their family in Willow Grove and moved to West Palm Beach, FL in 1996. Bob and Kristen were married in February 2016 and resided in Dresher, PA.

Bob loved making music and worshipping God (playing piano, harmonica, guitar, drums), praying for and visiting people, telling anyone he met what Jesus had done for him and how he loved them, too. He enjoyed sports and games of all kinds - tennis, wiffleball, basketball, softball, pingpong, pool, bocce ball, word games, puzzles, cards.

Health and Fitness - he began caring for his health in earnest in his late 30s with daily walks and jogs. He began studying the benefits inherent in fruits and vegetables and took to heart that they could be real medicine for his body. He made salads almost daily, often competing with himself to see how many vegetables he could include on a single plate (routinely a dozen or more, just for the fun of it). He disciplined himself to eat thoughtfully and walk daily. The results for such faithfulness showed in encouraging checkups year after year. His cardiologist told him to “keep on doing whatever he was doing”, which he did to the very end, reassuring his nurse, that “I don’t eat junk food”!

Bob’s career included the following:
Math and Bible teacher at Eastern Christian High School, Patterson NJ  - 1956-62
Professor of Philosophy at Covenant College, Lookout Mountain TN - 1965-67
Teacher of Philosophy at Penn State University, King of Prussia, 1963
Vice-President of the Arthur S. DeMoss Foundation, St David's PA  -1970 - 79
President Arthur S. DeMoss Foundation - 1980- 2015
Philosophy teacher at Messiah College, Philadelphia PA - 1970-1977
Philosophy teacher at Geneva College, Philadelphia PA - 1978,79
Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Hatboro PA - 1963-73
Lay minister at New Life Presbyterian Church, Glenside PA - 1980 - 2023
Private first class in the United States Army, 1945-46
Author of book reviews for the Westminster Journal, 1962-70 and Presbyterian Guardian, 1965-70

His work took him all over the globe. It must be noted he did so with the full support and cheerful encouragement of his beloved  Dora, who cared for their five children on her own in his absence. Bob and Dora were united on the importance of these trips in encouraging and learning from other Christians world-wide. These travels first shaped him, and then the family and friends with whom he shared his new insights. Bob was a teacher, yes, but also a student, and eagerly learned about the diverse cultures and customs he encountered in places like Columbia, Mexico, Haiti, Uganda, Kenya, Germany, Hungary, and Japan. Many of the friendships he formed then remained lifelong friends.

Relatives and friends were invited to his Home Going Service on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at New Life Presbyterian Church Glenside, 467 North Easton Road, Glenside, PA 19038 followed by a reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Word in Deed Ministries, P.O. Box 476, Dresher, PA 19025 or Every Good Gift, PO Box 541, Abington, PA 19001.
