Leon P. Stauffer Jr, 91, entered into eternity on July 7, 2020. He was the husband of the late Rosina Stauffer. He was born and raised in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania by his parents, Leon and Esther Stauffer. He was the second child of six and the oldest boy.
Leon graduated from Upper Moreland High school before joining the army right after World War II. He was stationed in Europe where he met his future wife, Rosina Stepancich. They married and returned to the states where Leon spent 40 years as a welder in manufacturing. Rosina and Leon raised six boys and one girl.
Leon loved music and was an accomplished flutist. He passed his love of music down to all his children. He especially loved listening to his daughter sing. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and spent many hours playing wiffle ball in the yard with his boys and pitching batting practice when they went to have ‘hits’ at the local ball fields. He spent many days and evenings watching them play organized baseball. A quiet man, who though his words were few, lived out what he believed, through his actions.
Leon is survived by five of his six sons and his only daughter. They are Matthew Stauffer and his partner Susan Puskar, Peter Stauffer and wife Shirley, John Stauffer and wife Eva, Leon Stauffer and wife Jonell, and James Stauffer. He is also survived by daughter Gloria Kopchak and her partner Lori Hadley. His oldest son Konrad died three years ago. He was the proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren.
A graveside service with just the immediate family took place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Because of the ongoing pandemic, please be attentive to social precautions. A memorial service will be held at a future time, where the entire family and friends can celebrate the life of Leon P. Stauffer Jr.
