Alfred J. "Alf" Sharman Jr. of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. He was 87 years old. Alf was born September 8, 1932 in Abington, Pennsylvania, son of the late Alfred J. Sharman Sr. and the late Alvie Elizabeth Sharman (nee - Bryner). He is the beloved husband of Jane A. (nee McFerran) Sharman; loving father of Connie Kirkpatrick and her husband Russell, James A. Sharman and his wife June, and Mark B. Sharman and his wife Elizabeth; grandfather of Aubrey Lynch and her husband Landon, Erin Wentz and her husband Justin, Daniel Sharman and his wife Elizabeth, Corey O’Neill and her husband Matt, Lindsey Sharman, Mallory Sharman, and Jamie Sharman; great grandfather of Haylee, Parker, James, Alexandra, Penelope, Charlotte, Clarke, and Jackson.

Alf was born, raised, and educated in Abington. He attended Abington High School before being drafted into the United States Army. Alf married Jane A. McFerran in 1955 and they raised their family in Willow Grove. A dedicated worker, Alf was a fabricator for Asplundh for fifty years. He then worked for the Upper Moreland School District as Director of Maintenance and Transportation for ten years before retiring. Alf was a loyal member of the Willow Grove United Methodist Church and Concordia Lodge No. 67, Free & Accepted Masons. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, guitar and harmonica. He would often be found in his woodshop making houses, school, and churches. His greatest love was attending the sports and activities of his children and grandchildren and spending time with his great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service, military honors rendered by the United States Army, and Masonic service were held at 12:00 P.M. at Hatboro Cemetery, 36 Fulmor Avenue, Hatboro, PA 19040. Masks and social distancing were required at the funeral home and cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the visitation will require no more then 25 people in the funeral home at any given time. Please plan accordingly.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Lorelei Toombs from Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 North York Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Willow Grove United Methodist Church Benevolent Fund, 34 North York Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
