Andrew Thomas Hornak of Warminster, Pennsylvania, formerly of Horsham and Northeast Philadelphia, died Thursday, February 25, 2021 at his Ann’s Choice home.  Andy was born and raised in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania, son of his late parents Michael and Anna Hornak (nee Danko).  He was 88 years of age and the beloved husband of 66 years to Norma (nee Neel) Hornak; father of Edward Hornak (Joan), Janice Miller (Mike), and Kenneth Hornak (Donna Marie); grandfather of 7; Natalie Metzger, Andrew E. Hornak, Michael Miller, Kara Cota, Amanda Mizdail, Robert Hornak and Nadia Hornak; great grandfather of 9. He was blessed and delighted that dear friends Tom and Tadako Gallione became part of his family.

Andy graduated from Mahanoy City High School in 1949.  Following his military service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, he continued his education receiving a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University in the early 1960’s. Andy worked for many years as a Mechanical Engineer at Stokes Vacuum Inc.

Andy loved politics and, beginning in 1964 continuously through 2018, was an elected Democrat committeeman in Philadelphia, Horsham, and Warminster.  He founded the Horsham Democratic Committee in the late 1980’s and in 2014 received a special commendation from the Montgomery County Commissioner, acknowledging 50 years of service to the Democratic Party. 
He held leadership roles at Berachah Church in Cheltenham where he was a member for 26 years. In 2002 he and Norma joined Chelten, a Church of Hope and engaged in numerous activities. Andy had a servant’s heart and enjoyed helping others.  He loved to drive family and friends where they needed to be.  Andy was also a proud blood donor with the Red Cross for many years. 

Relatives and friends were invited to his Celebration of Life Servlce on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Chelten Church, 1601 Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025.  Visitation began at 11:30 A.M. followed by the service at 12:30 P.M. Interment with military honors rendered by the United States Army followed at 2:30 P.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Seeds of Hope Community Food Pantry, 1601 North Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025.
