Gerald F. "Jerry" Mawhinney of Horsham, Pennsylvania died Saturday, April 17, 2021 at his home. He was 61 years old. Jerry was born July 1, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the beloved son of Margaret “Peggy” Mawhinney and the late Frank Mawhinney; father of Frank Mawhinney; brother of Michael Mawhinney; uncle of Michael, Marra, Miranda, Maui, Maclain, and Montana Mawhinney.
Jerry was born and raised in Philadelphia. At age 10, the family moved to Horsham. He graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 1977. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February of 1979 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune and served in Okinawa and Korea until his honorable discharge in 1983. Jerry was an outgoing and gregarious guy who loved to fish and listen to heavy metal music. He loved his son unconditionally and was loved by his nieces and nephews equally.
Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Monday, April 26, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. and funeral service at 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Interment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in the future.
