Richard T. Fry Sr., a longtime resident of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. He was 80 years old. Rich was born November 16, 1940 in Abington, Pennsylvania, son of the late Raymond E. Fry and the late Kate Fry (nee - Smith). He is the beloved husband of the late Judith A. Fry; father of Lisa Downs and her husband Paul and Richard Fry Jr. and his husband Michael Moody; grandfather of Zachary and Julie Downs.
Rich attended Northeast High School in Philadelphia before joining the United States Navy and then the United States Army. He served until his honorable discharge from the Army in 1964. Rich met Judith Teale and the couple were married in 1963 just a few months after meeting. They were married for more than 50 years. Rich worked for many years at Abington Hospital and retired in 2008 as the Property Maintenance Supervisor.
Rich loved gardening and working outside and playing cards with his friends. He managed to know virtually everyone and will be remembered for being personable, friendly, and extremely engaging. Making memories with his family was central in Rich’s life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation and to remember with the family on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to SPCA of Montgomery County, 19 East Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
