Rita M. Lees of Abington, Pennsylvania died Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Abington. She was 99 years old. Rita was born June 27, 1921 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of the late James A. Abby and the late Rita M. Abby (nee - Atwell).
Rita lived most of her life in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, enjoying all that it offers. She was married to Robert Lees until his passing in 1988. Rita spent her later years with long time companion George Georgio until his passing in 2003. She retired after working 33 years for the Atlantic Richfield Company and continued working for many years after as a guide for the Morris Arboretum as well as volunteering at the Wissahickon Hospice. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at Queen of Peace Church, 820 North Hills Avenue, Ardsley, PA 19038. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Lawrence F. Crehan from Queen of Peace Church.
