Barbara B. Fricker, of Ambler, PA passed away peacefully on June 10, 2021 at the age of 91. Barbara was born June 4, 1930 in Philadelphia PA, the daughter of the late Carl F. and Anna I. Bauer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frank V Fricker, Jr. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandy Hostetter (Glenn) and Cindy Ogren (Tedd), five grandchildren Julia Waite (Ian), Kim Fritz-Ogren (Justin), Tad Ogren (Allie), Tyler Ogren (Lauren) and Carly Ogren, and four great grandchildren.

Barbara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Wilson College, her Masters of Education from Temple University and her Principal’s Certification from Cheney State. An educator all her life, she retired from Upper Moreland School District in 1993 after 32 years of service, where she had first been an elementary school teacher, then a Junior High English and Social Studies teacher, Social Studies department head, and finally the Vice Principal of Upper Moreland Middle School. A devoted educator, she continued to share her knowledge and ideas by leading projects in her church, civic club, and programs at Gwynedd Estates, where she had resided since 2005. She was also a skilled and avid bridge player. After her retirement she traveled many places with her husband, and was often joined by a close group of friends on the trips.

There was a private family interment at Hillside Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service August 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Abington Presbyterian Church 1082 Old York Road, Abington PA 19001, where she had been a member for over 57 years.

The family will greet visitors from 9:00-10:00 AM outside under the tent adjacent to the church upper parking lot.
The Church Pandemic committee asks those who attend to follow their social distancing practices.
Masks are to be worn when you enter the building, and you will be asked to provide contact info for contact tracing purposes, should it be needed. Once seated, if you are vaccinated, you may remove your mask. You will need to wear the mask again when singing and exiting the building. If you are not vaccinated it is requested you always wear your mask. Please refrain from hand shaking or hugging while inside.
