Leona Eleanor Moffett of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania died Friday, August 6, 2021 at her home. She was 95 years old. Leona was born June 22, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Leon Walter Garman and the late Sara Garman (nee - Austin). She is the beloved wife of James Moffett; mother of Sally Martin and her husband John, Michele Moffett and her friend Dan Bright, and Vicky McKnight and her husband Ed; grandmother of Jason Martin and his wife Sheila, Trevor Martin, Amanda Veneziale and her husband John, Elizabeth Taylor-Winterbottom and her husband Michael, Lynne DeLeon and her husband Richard, Allyson Gouse, Megan McKnight-Wiegand and her wife Jen, and Edward McKnight and his wife Lisa; great grandmother of Giovanni, Nico, Sara, Tabitha, Michele, Cheyanne, Abbi, Charlotte, Willow, Ryleigh, Violet, Eleanor, Avery, Harper, and MacKenzie; aunt of Gary Malone and his wife Kathy.

Leona was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She was a June 1943 graduate of Kensington Girls High School. Leona married her next door neighbor James Moffett in 1949. The couple lived in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia and started a family. As their children grew, they moved to Olney and Leona took a job at Sears and Roebuck on Roosevelt Boulevard in the shipping department. They finally moved to Elkins Park in the suburbs in 2001 to be closer to their daughters. Leona and James were longtime members of Bethel Temple in Kensington until they moved from the neighborhood. They have been at Church of the Open Door in Fort Washington for many years.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Avenue, Fort Washington, PA 19034. Her graveside service followed at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

Religious services were conducted by Dr. Glenn Jago, pastor of Church of the Open Door.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Church of the Open Door, 1260 Fort Washington Avenue, Fort Washington, PA 19034.
