Willie Columbus Norman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Monday, August 9, 2021 at Jeanes Hospital. He was 94 years old. Willie was born January 31, 1927 in Linville, North Carolina, son of the late George Norman and the late Nora Norman (nee - Marcus). He is the beloved husband of the late Catherine Norman; father of Catherine Norman Leber, Richard Norman, the late Elizabeth Jimenez, and the late William Norman; grandfather of Lisa, Christina, Dawn, Victoria, Erica, and Richard. He is also survived by his many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Willie served in the United States Air Force and United States Army. Willie entered service on April 27, 1945, he served at Camp Livingston in Louisiana, Fort Meade in Maryland, Greensboro in North Carolina, Bolling Field in Washington D.C., Camp Kilmer in New Jersey, and in Germany, Italy, and Austria in Europe. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal. Willie served in the Philadelphia Police Department for 22 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. and funeral service at 12:30 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. His graveside service followed with military honors rendered by the United States Army at Forest Hills Cemetery, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.

At the family request, and CDC guidelines, please wear a mask if attending any part of the services.

Religious services were conducted by Deacon Robert Ritchie from Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 205 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Fraternal Order of Police Survival Fund, c/o Philadelphia Lodge #5, 11630 Caroline Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154-2110.
