Doris M. Chalmers of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania died Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home. She was 95 years old. Doris was born August 24, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Harry Arinsberg and the late Mamie Arinsberg (nee - Bendel). She is the beloved wife of the late George H. Scharas and the late Robert H. Chalmers; mother of Doris M. Portley and her husband the late Edward, William Chalmers and his wife Peg, Robert Chalmers and his wife Barbara, the late David Chalmers and his wife the late Annamarie, and the late Stephen Chalmers and his wife the late Theresa; grandmother of 14; great grandmother of 24; and the great great grandmother of 9 with one more on the way. She is also the sister of the late Harry Arinsberg.

Doris was raised in the Fairhill Section of Philadelphia and raised her family in the Fairhill section until moving later to the Olney section of Philadelphia. She loved to get her nails done, enjoyed reading, scrabble, and watching Jeopardy. She would take pride in embarrassing her kids when she could, play words with friends online, and share the story of how she “earned” her beads in New Orleans.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. The family requests masks be worn.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Judith A. Dwyer former pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church of Wyncote, 217 Fernbrook Avenue, Wyncote, PA 19095.
