Joyce S. Young (nee Koenig) 90, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2021. She was born at her family home in Montgomery Township on Kenas Road; where she lived until she met the love of her life, William Richard “Dick” Young. Joyce and Dick were married in June, 1951 and had their beloved son, Bryan, in 1953. Joyce had a very long and successful career with Strawbridge and Clothier.
She and Dick traveled extensively to many wonderful destinations over the years, always meeting and making new friends. Joyce loved fiercely, gave of herself, her time and her talents willingly, and was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She was a long time active member of Roslyn Presbyterian Church where her time and commitment were endless and selfless. She was a proud member of “The Jolly Girls“ ~ her dearest of friends over many years.
Joyce is pre-deceased by her parents, George and Freda (Kenas) Koenig, her beloved son Bryan Dirk Young, sister Marlene C. Morrison and her beloved husband, William Richard “Dick” Young. Survived by her brother Robert G. Koenig (Edith), sister Gail H. Davidson (Randall), several dear nieces and nephews along with many kind caring and loving friends.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. and funeral service at 10:30 A.M. at Wayside Chapel at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1151 Horsham Road, Ambler, PA 19002. Her graveside service will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Daniel W. Reid from the former Roslyn Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Asplundh Cancer Pavilion - Abington Health Foundation, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.
