James T. Stephenson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at The Samaritan Center. He was 87 years old. James was born October 1, 1934 in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, son of the late James Stephenson and the late Catherine Stephenson (nee - Treanor). He is the beloved father of Patrick Stephenson, Nancy McGrath and her husband Robert, Linda Eichner Kyriss and her husband Mark, James T. Stephenson, Jr., and the late Karen A. Blackton and her husband Peter; grandfather of David T. Eichner Jr. and his wife Taylor, Samantha Lynn Stephenson, James T. Stephenson III and his wife Emily, Olivia Blackton, and Amanda Blackton; great grandfather of Jace, Linken, Atlas, Quilo, and Mia Jane; brother of the late Nancy Pierson and her husband the late Dr. Raymond.

James was born, raised, and educated in Cheltenham Township, PA. He was a graduate of Cheltenham High School. James enlisted in the US Army out of high school and served honorably during the Korean War. He went to work as a police officer in Philadelphia where he proudly served for over thirty years. He raised his family in the Lawndale and Lawncrest section of the city. After retirement he traveled and received his CDL license. He worked another ten years delivering Ford motor parts for Rollins Trucking. Jim enjoyed traveling and felt most comfortable in the mountains. He skied into his sixties and loved to hike. Jim made sure to make memories with his family enjoying the sights all over the US and Canada.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. at Presentation B. V. M. Church, 100 Old Soldiers Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012. His graveside service followed with military honors rendered by the United States Army at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. William S. Harrison from Presentation B. V. M. Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 250, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
