Alice E. Powell of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania died Monday, November 29, 2021 at her home. She was 97 years old. Alice was born January 28, 1924 in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Michael Elnisky and the late Julia Elnisky (nee - Matkowski). She is the beloved husband of the late Francis E. Powell Jr. and the late Edward Martizus; mother of Debra F. Powell and her husband the late Edward Nicgorski and Donna A. Abel and her husband A.J. III; grandmother of Hillary, A.J. IV, Patrick, and Scott; She was predeceased by her three sisters and brother and is survived by her sisters Pauline Zelenik and Catherine.

Alice was born, raised, and educated in Bentleyville, PA in Washington County. She assisted her husband Francis in starting the Powell Agency in 1955 and his insurance company Great Valley Mutual in 1967. She worked in the office on and off for over twenty years. Alice loved to workout and stay fit. She was an avid tennis player and enjoyed skiing. She and Francis would enjoy ballroom dancing and were members of LuLu Country Club. In her free time, Alice enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends at her home in Avalon, NJ.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Her graveside service followed at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ukrainian Education and Cultural Center, 700 North Cedar Road, Jenkintown, PA 19046 or Parkinson Research Foundation, PO Box 96318, Washington, DC 20090.
