Willi F. Ellwanger of Warminster, Pennsylvania died Monday, November 29, 2021 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. He was 92 years old. Willi was born June 22, 1929 in Stammheim, Germany, son of the late Karl Ellwanger and the late Kathe Ellwanger (nee - Geiger). He is the beloved husband of the late Irmgard H. Ellwanger; father of Joanne Weissgerber and her husband Joseph and Steven Ellwanger; grandfather of Karl, Daniel, Kristina, Katie, and Kurt; great grandfather of Patrick, Liam, Gavin, Alexander, Annabelle, and Jaxon.

Willi emigrated to the United States in 1949. He was drafted into the United States Army in March of 1951 and served honorably during the Korean War until his discharge in 1953. Irmgard first met Willi while attending a club while he was in the Army. The two met again a year later on a blind date. They married on September 10, 1955 and started their lives together in Philadelphia. They moved to Warminster in 1964 and started to raise their family. Willie was a proud member of the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein and the Steuben Society of America and a longtime member of the Bayerischer Volksfest Verein. Willi enjoyed gardening, working in his garden right up until his passing. He also was a model train enthusiast, HO gauge. His love of model trains he enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service followed with military honors rendered by the United States Army at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. David Penman from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 North York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Jefferson Health Hospice at Warminster - Abington Health Foundation, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.
