Philip McPoyle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Monday, December 27, 2021 at Jeanes Hospital. He was 90 years old. Phil was born August 2, 1931 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Philip McPoyle and the late Margaret McPoyle (nee - Maxwell). He is the beloved husband of Dolores McPoyle nee Pivnickas; father of Maureen O’Neill, Philip J. McPoyle, Irene Mahon and her husband Pearse, and Thomas McPoyle and his wife Kellie; grandfather of 11; great grandfather of 1.

Phil was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia where he graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys in 1950. He served in the United States Army from November 24, 1953 until his full Honorable Discharge on December 21, 1961 at rank of SP4, CE. He was a member of The Big Red One, US Army First Infantry Division. After his service Phil and Dolores kept up their connections by engaging at BRO social functions. Phil spent many years working for the City of Philadelphia. He worked mainly at the Philadelphia Water Department and the Northeast Philadelphia Airport as part of the security detail.

Phil was a member of The Artisans Order of Mutual Protection for most of his life. He and Dolores were members at Presentation BVM parish in Cheltenham for more than 60 years. In his free time, Phil was an avid gardener, history buff, and loved reading.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Presentation B. V. M. Church, 100 Old Soldiers Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. William S. Harrison, pastor of Presentation B. V. M. Church, 100 Old Soldiers Road, Cheltenham, PA 19012 and Fr. Alfonso J. Concha, pastor of St. William Church, 6200 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Relatives and friends were also invited to his graveside service and military honors rendered by the United States Army on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to charity of the donor’s choice.
