Valdis Ivars Kalnajs of Horsham, Pennsylvania died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at his home. He was 81 years old. Valdis was born May 31, 1940 in Daugavpils, Latvia, son of the late Arvids Alexsanders Kalnajs and the late Hortenzija Albertine Kalnajs (nee - Brauns). He is the beloved husband of the late Vija M. Kalnajs; loving father of Timothy Kalnajs and his wife, Tina; Dawn Ortiz and her husband John Paul; grandfather of Therese Kalnajs, Marcus Ortiz, Alex and Anthony Candelori; brother of Juris Kalnajs and his wife Joan. He is also survived by a loving extended family and friends.

Val was a graduate of Hatboro Horsham High School in 1959. He joined the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1968. He worked as an electrician until switching careers and went to work as a siding installer for Krumins Roofing and Siding Supply Company. He later went out on his own and ran his own siding installation buisness. In his free time, Val enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and woodworking. His greatest joy was hanging out with his neighbors and enjoying a cigar.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service followed with military honors rendered by the United States Army at 1:30 P.M. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
