Kathy was raised and educated in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Frankford High school. In 1980 she and her fellow flag guard members were picked to be in the movie “Blowout”. She continued her education at Lebanon Valley College and received her masters degree from St. Joseph’s University. Kathy spent 35 years with the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging beginning with social work and then was promoted into a leadership role and spent the remainder of her career training the next generation of social workers.  She met Houston and they began dating on July 5, 1985. The couple were married on June 5, 1993, a date that was selected to celebrate his mother’s birthday. In her free time she enjoyed cross-stitching and was an avid reader, she was also deeply committed to philanthropy and donated generously to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
