Greta Kasparova of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 29, 2022. She was 86 years old. Greta was born March 13, 1935 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She was the daughter of the late Artavaz Khurshudyan and the late Gayane Khurshudyan (nee Badalova). She is survived by her sister Zoya Kubinskaya, her children Georgy Kasparov, Svetlana Martirosyan, and Mariyetta Kevorkova, her grandchildren Gayane, Emil, Stella, Diana, Christina, and Alexsandra, and great grandchildren Aram, Tigran, and Edgar.
Greta was a professional Armenian dancer and shared this passion for Armenian music and dance with her family. From 1989-1993 she lived in her homeland, Armenia. She emigrated with her children to the United States in 1993. Greta enjoyed being a host, cooking all types of cuisine including her famous pastries, and most of all raising not only her children but being a central figure for her grandchildren in their development.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. and funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Archpriest Fr. Nerses Manoogian from St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, 8701 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128.
