Walter Conrad Wright Sr. of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Luther Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 85 years old. Walter was born April 3, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles H. Wright and the late Florence Wright (nee - Praediger). He is the beloved husband of the late Jeannette D. Wright; father of Wendy Croft (Wendel), Dorothy Bunting (Timothy), Doris Wright, Susan Stampler (James), Janice Meleta (Michael), and the late Walter Wright, Jr.; grandfather of Linda, Robin, Wendy, Debbie, Charles, James, Timothy, Angela, Christine, Danyelle and Nichole. He is also survived by his many great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, son, and brother Charles Wright.

Walter grew up in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. He was a 1954 graduate of Germantown High School. Walter went to work for his father at Wright and Wright, a heating oil company founded by his family in 1905. He eventually took over the company from his father and upon his own retirement passed the company on to his son in law James. Walter was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and Phillies. He raised his family in Rockledge and was an active member in the community before moving to Gloria Dei. He enjoyed golfing, puzzles, and making model airplanes. Walter was a softball coach for his daughters in the FoxRock league for several years when they were active in the league and an Indian Guide Leader for his son Walter Jr. He enjoyed playing pinochle and rummy with his family and friends. He and his wife would spend their free time at their vacation home in Florida for many years. They moved into Gloria Dei in 2001 and became active members in their new community. Walter would enjoy playing cards and bingo with his Gloria Dei neighbors.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. and memorial service at 8:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Josephine Wright formerly of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 65 East Street Road, Feasterville, PA 19053.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his Son Walter Jr.’s memory to St. Luke’s Penn Foundation, 807 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
