Dennis G. Beerley of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Keystone Care.  He was 69 years old.  His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite it all, Dennis stayed strong until the end.

Dennis was born December 22, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late George J. Beerley and the late Mary T. Beerley (nee - Rowley).  He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne Bloomer Beerley; father of Dennis J. Beerley and his wife Michelle, Joseph S. Beerley, and Michael J. Beerley; grandfather of Dennis C. and Emma J. Beerley; brother of the late George J. Beerley Jr. and his wife Anne, Cecilia Klock and her husband Butch, Mark Beerley and his wife Peg, the late Brian Beerley and his wife Janet, and Paul Beerley. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Dennis was born, raised, and educated in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. He attended St. Francis of Assisi grade school and was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1971. Dennis was a also a member of Dougherty’s 1969 City Championship soccer team and was named First Team All-Catholic in 1970 and 1971. He met the love of his life Joanne Bloomer at senior week in high school. The two were married November 17, 1973.

Dennis was inducted into Cardinal Dougherty High School’s Soccer Hall of Fame in 2021. In addition to soccer, he was an avid accordion player and enjoyed performing at family functions, as well as, veteran homes and the Annual Police and Firemen’s Award Ceremony at St. William’s in Lawncrest for a number of years.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dennis. He  enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and - as many know - he would  never pass up a good meal and cup of coffee at the local diners.

Dennis was innovative and deliberate in his craft and retired from the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard / Naval Foundry and Propeller Center after 40+ years of service as a Toolmaker.

Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Monday, May 16, 2022 from 9:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at St. David Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Matthew P. Windle from St. David Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Keystone House’s Angel Fund 8765 Stenton Avenue, Wyndmoor, PA 19038 in his honor.
