Irene F. Turzer of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. She was 97 years old. Irene was born May 7, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Czeslaw Dembowski and the late Julia Dembowski (nee - Ilik). She is the beloved wife of the late John J. Turzer; mother of John and his wife Leslie, Barbara, and Jackie Turzer; grandmother of Bob and his wife Kristy Turzer, Jade and her husband Sean Beardsley, Ira Britton, and the late Chuckie Turzer; great grandmother of Hunter, Dakota, Brady, and Tanner Turzer, Connor and Christian Beardsley.

Mrs Turzer was one of the pioneering members of Ancillae-Assumpta Academy. Arriving at Assumpta Academy long before it merged with Ancillae Academy, Irene Turzer had been a constant presence since 1957, serving in many capacities. Throughout her 60 years at Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, her most beloved role, and the one where she spent the majority of her time, was as an elementary school teacher. For more than 40 of her years at Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, she literally taught several thousand students from Kindergarten to Grade 4. In addition to her role as a classroom teacher, Mrs. Turzer taught in the summer camp, was the administrator of the Sunshine Club, and worked in the Office for Institutional Advancement, where her warmth and friendliness with the alumni made the school a home away from home.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 9:30 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady Help Of Christians, 1500 Marian Road, Abington, PA 19001. Her graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. Anthony W. Janton from Our Lady Help Of Christians.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ancillae-Assumpta Academy, Athletic Department, 2025 Church Road, Wyncote, PA 19095 www.ancillae.org.
