Rita Marie Dutton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Friday, June 3, 2022 at Philadelphia Protestant Home. She was 93 years old. Rita was born June 7, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Pasquale Pompilio and the late Mary Pompilio (nee - Marchese). She is the beloved wife of the late John E. Dutton; mother of David Dutton and his wife Laura and Judith Dutton; grandmother of Hayden Dutton-Shen and John Dutton; sister of Lucille Steinmetz and her husband George. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her beloved Anna Marie Tumolty and David Shen.
Rita was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia, she was a proud alumni of Little Flower High School. She worked for over 15 years in the sales department for the Philadelphia Inquirer. After her husband’s passing she joined Parent’s Without partners. She loved to take trips and traveled extensively to other countries. From her youth, she loved music and it was a central part of her life. She had a beautiful singing voice, and played the accordion, keyboard, guitar & ukulele.
Relatives and friends were invited to her memorial gathering on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Please come and join us as we share memories and stories of our beloved Rio Rita.
