Rita L. Salanik of Horsham, Pennsylvania died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. She was 74 years old. Rita was born September 1, 1947 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. She is the eldest of eight children of the late Michael Salanik and the late Lena Salanik (nee - Guardiani). She is the beloved sister of Robert Salanik and his wife Dorothy, Janet Olsen and her husband Joe, Michael Salanik and his wife Patricia, James Salanik and his wife Carol, John Salanik and his wife Geri, Eileen Collins, and the late Stephen Salanik and his wife June. She is the proud aunt of twenty nieces and nephews, and the great aunt to many more.

Rita was a graduate of the University of Wyoming. She worked in the banking industry in Philadelphia prior to working for IBM in Philadelphia and California. She was a system analyst for IBM for 24 years. After her retirement, Rita worked in the financial field in Valley Forge. Rita retired early to care for her aging parents and was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed reading, baking, and spending time with her family. In her youth, she enjoyed car rallies, the beach, and traveling.


Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.

Religious services were conducted by Fr. Andrew C. Brownholtz from St. Ignatius of Antioch, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA 19067.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
