The following obituary was composed by Emil’s family:

Emil Bobyock fell asleep in the Lord on May 25, 2022 (the eve of Ascension Thursday). He was born April 20, 1941, (Easter Sunday on the "old calendar") in Mahanoy Plane, PA., the son of the late Nicholas and Frances (Stec) Bobyock. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, of 56 years. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: MaryBeth Meyer and Gregory, Stephen, David and Lisa Bobyock.

Emil graduated from Gilberton Borough High School in 1958 and The Pennsylvania State University in 1964. For the major part of his career he worked in the Pharmacology Department of Hahnemann Medical School in research and, as instructor, teaching pharmacology.

He was dedicated to preserving his beloved Ukrainian heritage. As a long time member of Annunciation B.V.M. Ukrainian Catholic Church, he was involved with many of the church's activities especially the Choir and served as choir treasurer. Later, he joined the Prometheus Male Choir of Philadelphia and served as librarian for many years.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and Requiem Divine Liturgy at 11:00 A.M. at Annunciation of the BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1206 Valley Road, Melrose Park, PA 19027. His graveside service followed at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cemetery, 438 Cedar Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Ihor Bloshchynskyy from Annunciation of the BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Annunciation B.V.M. Church, 1206 Valley Road, Melrose Park, PA 19027, or checks made to Prometheus and sent to: Walter Kononenko Treasurer, 4 Eagle Mount Drive, Richboro, PA 18954.
