Richard H. Gibson of Doylestown, Pennsylvania died Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 78 years old. Richard was born June 26, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of Harry William Gibson and Louise P. Gibson (nee - Murphy). He is the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen Gibson; father of Maggie Scanlan and her husband Bradford, Maureen Reynolds, and Thomas Gibson and his wife Kimberly; grandfather of Ryan, Sean, Grace, and Hope Scanlan, Madison and Zoe Reynolds, and Jacob, Molly, and Ellie Gibson. Richard was the twin brother of Thomas F. Gibson.

Richard grew up in West Oak Lane. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School, and went on to obtain a Bachelors degree from La Salle University and a Masters from Trenton State College. Richard worked in the Philadelphia School District his entire career, as a Social Studies teacher and department head. He was also a proud builder and developer with his father-in-law and best friend, George Hughes.

Richard enjoyed summer vacations with his family in Ocean City, NJ. His hobbies included antiquing, and working on his home and garden. He was happiest when he was with his wife, watching his kids and grandkids swim in their backyard pool. Richard loved his wife, children and grandchildren tremendously.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Church, 8320 Brookside Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027. His graveside service followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 West Cheltenham Avenue, Cheltenham, PA 19038.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Efren V. Esmilla from St. James Church.
