Ruth Doris (Spindler) Akers born April 22, 1923, on Davisville Road in Willow Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022. She graduated from Abington High School in 1941.
Ruth married her beloved husband, Robert Akers, in January 1942 and spent 51 years together before his passing. Together they made Willow Grove their home and raised their family. Ruth and Bob enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada enjoying National Parks and sharing their adventures with family, leaving a legacy of travel inspiration to their grandchildren.
Ruth was active in the local Willow Grove and Upper Moreland community for many years. She enjoyed spending time swimming at the Hatboro YMCA and during the summer at Upper Moreland Swim Club.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company and a charter member of the Women’s Club of Upper Moreland. She was a lifetime member of the Willow Grove Methodist Church.
Relatives and friends were invited to her funeral service on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 North York Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Interment will be private.
