Lewis W. Kitchen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.  He was 87 years old.  Lewis was born June 10, 1935 in Alderson, Pennsylvania, son of the late Sterling Kitchen and the late Beulah Kitchen (nee Keiper).  He is the beloved husband of Rita A. (nee Kuczborski) Kitchen; father of David Kitchen and his wife Georgina, LouAnn MacIntyre and her husband John, and Nicole Ewerth and her husband Michael. Grandpa of Jessica Mahoney and her husband Joseph, Sarah Pingel and her husband Ian, Aneliese Ewerth, and Christopher Ewerth. Great Grandpa to Caleb Mahoney, Austin Mahoney, and Abby Louise Pingel. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Emory, David, Walter, Isabelle, and Elizabeth.

Lewis was raised in the Dallas and Harvey’s Lake, PA area. In the 1950’s he moved to Philadelphia. While cruising Aramingo Avenue one Saturday afternoon he met Rita, who was sweeping the sidewalk of her childhood home. They married May 11, 1957 and celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. Lewis was self-employed for many years designing and fabricating custom commercial food equipment and was known for his fine attention to detail. He was a reserved man who enjoyed woodworking and automobiles, both classic and the latest models. He took pride in his ability to repair almost anything in the house. Lewis lovingly took on the role of caregiver to Rita over the past several years. His memory will be a blessing to all.

Rita passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2022, their services were held jointly.
