Margaret H. "Emma" Leighton of Quakertown, Pennsylvania died Friday, July 8, 2022 surrounded by her beloved family. She was 88 years old. Emma was born November 13, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late James J. Hannigan and the late Catherine M. Hannigan (nee - Sullivan). She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin F. She is also survived by her sister Regina Beiderman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Em was from a large family, born 10th out of 11 children. She was a graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls and continued her education at Immaculata University where she earned her Bachelors in Education. After graduation, she taught second grade before she and Ben started a large family of their own. It was in first grade where she met Ben Leighton. They started dating in eighth grade and shared their life together for almost 70 years. Ben and Emma were married on July 20, 1957 in Lafayette Hill, PA. They raised their family in Willow Grove from 1964 until 2003 when they moved to Quakertown to devote their lives to their children and grandchildren. She loved working in her beautiful yard and gardens. Best of all, she was a caring and loving mother and grandmother.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 100 Broad Street, Hilltown, PA 18927.
