James E. Burner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Manor. He was 92 years old. James was born June 25, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Edward W. Burner and the late Mary E. Burner (nee - Higgins). He is the beloved husband of the late Kathleen P. Burner; father of James Joseph Burner and his wife Kathy, Michael Patrick Burner and his wife Franny, Kathleen A. Condon and her husband Michael Francis III, and Suzanne T. Foust and her husband Gregory Steven; grandfather of 9; and the great grandfather of 11; brother of the late Robert Burner and his wife the late Joan.

James was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. He was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School in 1949. Kathleen and James were married October 23, 1954 at St. Veronica’s Parish in Philadelphia. They raised their family in the Oxford Circle section of the city. James worked for the Reading Railroad, in his youth, and was a collector of model trains. He later went on to work as a Vice President of a direct mailing advertising firm. He enjoyed golf after retirement in 1994. James was very handy, often working on his own home and teaching his family the skills he improved on throughout his life.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Church, 8320 Brookside Road, Elkins Park, PA 19027. His graveside service followed at Calvary Cemetery, 235 East Matsonford Road, West Conshohocken, PA 19428.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Efren V. Esmilla from St. James Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Roman Catholic High School, 301 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
