Donna M. Tretina of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at her home. She was 66 years old. Donna was born January 10, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Paul A. Tretina and the late Bertha Tretina (nee - Brems). She is the beloved wife Kenneth Thomas; sister of Gary P. and his wife Susan Tretina; aunt of Christopher Tretina and his wife Melissa and Kathryn Tretina and her husband Jeremy Beam; great aunt of Jayden and Lucas Tretina; She is also survived by her sister in law Pamela Thomas Marrs, brother in law Morgan Thomas and his wife Donna, and their children Desiree Schuler and her husband Branden (and their children Izabella and Zaidyn), Shannon Zallner and her husband Bryn, Jessie Thomas and his wife Sierra, Megan Salas, Jessica Thomas, Jeremy Thomas and his wife Olivia, and Shawn Schuler. Donna will be missed by her pets Freya and Kitty Kat.
Donna was born, raised, and educated in the Burholme section of Philadelphia. She was a proud graduate of Northeast High School and received her BA and MA from Temple University. Donna was a computer programmer for Cigna and IBM in Philadelphia and NJ. She and Ken met while in High School, dated in college, and were married in 1990. Donna enjoyed folk dancing and was a volunteer for the Friends of High School Park. She and her longtime friend of over 45 years, Janet Amato, ran a plant sale to raise money for the park.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewings on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday, October 21, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. and to her funeral service at 10:00 A.M. all held at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Father Timothy Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to ALS Association, 321 Norristown Road - Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002-2755 or ALS Hope Foundation, PO Box 40777, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
