Blanche R. Erwin of Hatboro, Pennsylvania died Friday, September 16, 2022 at her home. She was 82 years old. Blanche was born March 11, 1940 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, daughter of B. Calvin Rhoades and Dorcas Rhoades (nee - Pengelly). She is the beloved wife of the late Howard S. Erwin; mother of Beth Bucher and her husband Paul; grandmother of Alyssa, Melina, Wesley, David, Jolene, Hannah, and Nathan. She is also survived by her sister Jean Vandegrift and by nieces and nephews.

Blanche grew up in Philadelphia, and graduated from Germantown High School. Blanche met Howard Erwin when they were both assisting at Willow Grove United Methodist Church as counselors for the junior high school youth fellowship. The couple were married in 1967 and moved to their current home in Hatboro. Blanche held several jobs throughout her life doing secretarial work, but she was primarily devoted to raising her family and serving her church. Blanche was an active, longtime parishioner at Willow Grove United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school for around fifty years, and was involved in coordinating and directing various other children’s activities. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, and collecting teddy bears. Her two greatest passions, however, were her church and her grandchildren.

Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 North York Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Willow Grove United Methodist Church, 34 North York Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090 or Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center, 87 Old Mine Road, Lebanon, PA 17042.

Family flowers arranged by Kremp Florist 215-657-6700.
