Thomas Lewis "Thom" Gilbride Sr. of Glenside, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Abington Hospital Jefferson Health. He was 72 years old. Thom was born July 23, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Corneilius “Neil” Jerome Gilbride and the late Laura Evelyn Gilbride (nee - Lewis). He is the beloved husband of Elaine L. (nee Robinson) Gilbride; Father of Joey Gilbride and his fiancé Miriam Lipschutz and Thomas Gilbride Jr.; Brother of Evelyn Gilbride Pitman and her husband Richard, the late Neil Gilbride Jr., the late Nancy Levin and her husband the late Richard, the late Betsy Humphries and her husband the late Horace, the late Joanne Knapp and her husband Patrick, the late Betty Arcurio and her husband the late Alfred, the late Joseph Gilbride and his wife Betsy Vakay, and the late John George Gilbride. He is also survived by his cousin William Lewis and his wife Dawn, many nieces and nephews.

Thom was raised and educated in Abington, PA where he graduated from Abington High School. He continued his education at Montgomery County Community College. Thom and Elaine met on a blind date, fell in love, and were married at the Plumsteadville Inn on November 2, 1991. Thom worked in transport at Norristown State Hospital before starting a residential painting service in the Abington area. He later worked as a groundskeeper for Horsham Valley Golf Club from 2000-2012.

Thom loved Irish and folk music and would sing, play guitar, and play the mandolin. He was in the band Foggy Dew and more recently Gone to the Dogs. In his free time Thom enjoyed golf, woodworking, and watching the Phillies. He was also a proud dog owner to his beloved Toby and Poca.

Relatives and friends were invited to his viewing on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:30 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. His graveside service followed at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

Religious services were conducted by Rev. Jorge Suitor from Willow Grove Baptist Church, 1872 Kimball Avenue, Willow Grove, PA 19090.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Commodore John Barry Arts and Cultural Center, 6815 Emlen Street, Philadelphia, PA 19119.
