Marika Riediger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania died Friday, November 18, 2022 at Lafayette Redeemer. She was 68 years old. Marika was born October 20, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Emil Riediger and the late Lydia Riediger (nee - Heise). She is the beloved niece of Siegmund and his wife the late Irene Heise and the late Emma and her husband the late Ewald Kraus. Cousin of Marline Smart and her husband Dan, Ingo Kraus and his wife Terry, Christina Pritchard and her husband Kenneth, and Pauline Robb and her husband Eric. Marika is also survived by her extended family in Germany as well as the Philadelphia area.
Marika was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Northeast High School and continued her education, receiving her Bachelors degree at Holy Family College. Marika was a lifelong Eagles fan, loved her cats, was an avid reader, and was always open to socializing. She worked for many years as an editor for a library for the blind. She especially loved to play bingo, string beads, and join in various activities including attending musical concerts with her fellow residents at Lafayette Redeemer.
Relatives and friends were invited to her viewing on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. and funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Lawnview Cemetery, 500 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046.
Religious services were conducted by Rev. Owen Griffiths.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Salvation Army, 701 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123.
