The following obituary was composed by Elizabeth’s family:

On January 5th, 2023, beloved mother and devoted wife Elizabeth R. Meyer (née Latendorf) passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Elizabeth was born to the late Waldemar and Martha Latendorf on February 18th, 1944, in Sindelfingen, Germany. After visiting family in America, she decided to make Philadelphia her home, and finished her schooling at Temple University. She married her husband of 44 years, Walter Meyer, in 1978, and they settled into their house in Ambler, PA. She is survived by her husband Walter, her sons Michael Perbix of Ambler (by former husband Hubert Perbix) and John-Paul Meyer of Lancaster, her brother Wolfgang, and sister Irene.

Betty, as she was called by friends and family, was known for her generous love, giving spirit, and her wonderful sense of humor and wit. She served for most of her professional life as a Food Service Professional with the Upper Dublin School District. She was also deeply devoted to her church and her church family at Old Zion Lutheran Church of Philadelphia, where she was active with both the Altar Guild and Frauenverein (Women’s Auxiliary), as well as the decades-long editor of the church bulletin and newsletter, and organizer of the altar flowers. Anyone that knew her knew they could count on a fast friend who was willing to step up and provide support or accomplish any task that was asked of her.

Relatives and friends were invited to her visitation on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. and funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 419 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA 19046. Her graveside service followed at Hillside Cemetery, 2556 Susquehanna Road, Roslyn, PA 19001.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name directly to Old Zion Lutheran Church of Philadelphia, 628 North Broad Street, PO Box 24816, Philadelphia, PA 19130. An online link for giving is also available by clicking the “Donate to Old Zion” button at www.oldzionlutheran.org.
