The following obituary was written by Richard’s family.
Richard Molyneaux Mitchell passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023 in Meadowbrook Pennsylvania. He was 88 years old. Born August 29th, 1934 in Philadelphia. Son of Ralph M. Mitchell and Grace Mitchell (nee Bieber). He is preceded in death by his loving wife Alvina (nee Gratz).
Richard is survived by his son Richard M. Mitchell Jr. (wife Elisa), daughter Jennifer A. Perry (husband Gregory), and son Timothy Mitchell (wife Diane), and six grandchildren, Ryan, Justin, Alexander, Kenneth, Julia, and Nicholas.
Growing up in Delaware county Richard attended Haverford High School. Richard excelled in athletics and loved sports. He especially enjoyed attending sporting events his children participated in. Richard was an avid fan of the Phillies, the Eagles, and the Philadelphia Athletics.
Richard attended Gettysburg College where he continued his involvement in athletics and participated in wrestling and football. After graduating in 1956 he enlisted in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army he went to work for the Philadelphia Electric company for 30 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to his visitation on Saturday June 17th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Wetzel and Son Funeral Home, 501 Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA, 19090.
